Well, thanks. I'm sad that you supermanned my game to. He's so lame, that boring ass alien (superman).
Well...
Well... I rarely give reviews are negative but since this game is featured on the front page I feel that I need to speak my comments about this one.
1) I can't speak for the whole game as i only played for about 15 minutes just FYI
2) Player movement is a little slow so when you only have your fists and you are trying to out menouver the enemy that has a gun its close to imposible.
3) the weapons are either underpowered (except grenade launcher it seems) or the enemies are overhealthed. i picked up some type of automatic weapon and there were 2 enemies on screen. I continually fired and tried jumping simultaneiously to avoid fire but it took too enough time to kill with the automatic riffle that the guy behind him got to hit me 3 times before i killed the first. and health is not in good supply it seems (never saw a health pickup so far)
4) controls could be better, id at least suggest switching the jump and attack buttons such that the fire button would be on the players primary index finger (makes it a little easier for most people) either that or make it similar to WSAD jumping and moving.
5) as said by many... the partner is useless and i didn't play enough to seem a reason switch to him as he does not seem to have a special attack or any other redeeming features. he also does not attack on his own :(
6) No upgrades or experience or powerups so far for the time i played. this gives the game very little REplayability
7) the main players special attack is good but the range is so short and makes it not that usefull because you have to get very close and by that time the enemy has shot you 15 times. (and now your dead)
8) i didn't play enough to find out if any of these points will change with game play but sadly the game did not hold enough of my interest (and i'm pretty easy to please usually)
I also want to say that although I said many negitive things... this game, without a doubt, had a lot of work put into it and should be praised in that regard. IMO it just needs a small amount of tweaking and possibly a small new feature or 2, and it would be 5 times better. The only reason i was so hard with my review is that it is on the FRONT PAGE, seeing as the quality of frontpage submissions is usually very high, i felt that I had to criticize also very high.
you have yourself a solid game with alot of care and love i'm sure, just the little things that i'm sure many would agree need to be changed or fixed to make it an exciting one!

I played lvl 14 probably 100 - 200 times and finally refined the order and timing of the cuts and got the score to 929 (my first score was in the 500's in think :) can anyone best this ? (must get all gems and kill the one enemy also)
P.S. fun addicing game btw even though this type of game is not usually my best cup of tea i still like it!

Ok.. just a few tips
Game was good overall, so were the graphics... just a few good recomendations would be (i'm sure others would agree) to get rid of the 'better luck next time chump' sound but by far you should get rid / or change the background to either alpha blend it or make it more simple because of all the stuff going on and the clips moving around it clutters the screen and makes it hard to tell where you are and whats going on, the screen is just too busy.. I didn't play too long, so i didn't see much else than those to tips... You have yourself a good base game though, with a little touch ups it can be much much better.
Removed the sound you were talking about and blended the asteroids with the background so it would be less confusing. We've been debating here whether the "you died" sound should encourage the player or deride them. Going with encourage now.

Thanks! We really appreciate it, the game is by far not perfect but we put in quite a bit of work to get it to where it is now and we're happy to have people enjoy the game. =)

definately reminds me of the quickdraw thing that was on the frontpage a little while back, even the effects are similar. ok i guess, good for few minutes of fun

Why, why, why couldn't you just spend maybe like 5 more minutes on designing the main character to make him look, i dunno, more like anything but a 3 second squiggle drawing, thats my only complaint... oh and hitTest needs some work.

you have an ok st art, but here is what i'd change...
1) change the shapes to graphics so it looks nicer
2) the yellow dot on a white background makes it hard to see, change one of the colors or make a background that is not pure white for easier sight of yellow ball.
3) music would be nice also
4) sound fx also
5) other than that make it a little more appealing in all areas and u'd have a nice little game.! :)

just keep working on it, you got a good start. and why does the hammer swing so slow but still kill for the same amount of health as the fast weapons? just wondering. ... would like to see this finished i kinda like the animation style for the enemies
if I ever get around to recreating this, I should definitely change all that. Believe it or not, this game had 2 more updates that were lost when my hard drive crashed. It had a total of 6 enemies. All weapons, with correct damage outputs, and a traversable level. Enough to help me shed a tear.
